I'd like to hear from people who actually used SD9 + Green Screen

I'm in the market for a two small Camera (strictly and Strictly) for Green Screen.
Any reviews on Chroma keying with SD9?

ok, I'm I correct in assuming it is an AVCHD, which from the top of my head it is an mpeg2 stream inside a AVCHD wrapper @ 24Mbits(ish) @ 4:2:0, comparable to HDV I guess.

I'm no expert, but I think from information about Keying in HDV formats, I think it will be about the same, in essence you need as much colour information as possible, 4:4:4 would be ideal, you can of course downsample to SD frame sizes, I think that way you can obtain 4:4:4 from the 4:2:0 HD frame sample. That may be an avenue.

But I'm sure your aware of the other factors involved, consistent lighting etc..

So to answer your question, my best educated guess would be that its very possible, assuming all other factors are the same I would assume its about equal to shooting on HDV format in terms of Keying. Go the route of downsampling to SD if you want full color info, or capture uncompressed to an HD PCI board (blackmagic?)

Thanks for your input Anhar,
any input = using Matrox MXO2 instead Blackmagic EX?

As for inputs, I would consult the boards manual to see what each board accepts as inputs, usually I would assume most would allow Seperate composite RGB analouge HD, I think some of the higher end boards except HD-SDI as well.

EDIT:: I should add, that even if you choose to go the capture card route, depending on if its single CCDs or 3CCD, I would try and use 3CCD/CMOS if possible for green screening, even if the color decimation at the head, its better to have a 1:1 pixel to color ratio Vs a debayer pattern.

MXO2 Does Captures (SDI - HD/SD) to a variety of codecs including 10-bit uncompressed HD, DVCPRO HD ...
SD9 = 1/6" 3CCD with 560,000

1/6" !

make sure you have plenty of lighting, this is even more so if its indoor. I'm not a lighting guy so I can't really say what the best setup would be.
