Affordable boom pole/mike boom?

Which cheap mike boom can you recommend (preferrably in Europe)?

I am cheap. You can weld one out of electrical conduit tube for around $5. Gently bend it against your knee to the desired shape. Put a bicycle handlebar pad on the hold end and use some sort of ring, rubberbands and zip ties to hold your mike. Spray it with Krylon flat black paint. This has an added bonus in allowing you to use longer poles than what normally sells which adds to where you can place the mike on wider shots. Total cost around $10 US. YAY!

Hmmmmm $10 or $40? I would go with Gary's choice since you said cheap.

Plus it can be up to 16' long with just two conduit lengths. We shot a scene yesterday where that long a mike boom would have really been a plus. Some conduit can slide inside other conduit. (5/8" over 1/2") You can tack weld a 1/4" 20 nut on the larger outside tube after drilling a hole in it, and then use a 1/4" 20 bolt as a locker on the inner conduit tube. For smaller shots just use the single tube.

In fact, my son Matt's production team had their expensive microphone boom simply break at the locking center joint, and... I had to weld it together. So much for expensive mike booms.

More money for your production team to use for other important things is always a good thing.
