Hi guys...just a brief intro to my new documentary for filmmakers. "SO YOU WANT MICHAEL MADSEN?"

If you are interested in getting a name actor for your films then hopefully this documentary will give you insight into what it takes to get them, if they will do it, how to go about it, and the do's and don't of the approach.

In an effort to give it to you straight from the artist, I have compiled feature interviews that include EMMY* Winner, Holland Taylor (2 and a Half Men), John Saxon (Enter The Dragon), Paula Jai Parker (Hustle and Flow) and Doug Hutchison (The Green Mile) to mention a few...you will also see footage of JERSEY BOY, Frankie Valli, and UFC Champ, Randy Couture.

To bring the documentary full circle, you will also follow a quest to get Michael Madsen for an interview for this project.

The premiere will be at The Action On Film Festival in Pasedena, CA. in July 2008,http://www.aoffest.com/ but I will keep you all informed as to other screeinings here and in other states....

Here's a taste ...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zILNHYtSSFg

Hope to see you all soon.

Cheers,

Getting him for an interview might be one thing - getting him for a feature film part is quite another. His manager is extremely abrasive and needless to say we did not hit it off. As soon as he found out Sizemore was in my movie all bets were off - Madsen said no. His people are veeeery difficult to deal with.

I think that there will always be elements that would preclude getting certain actors...this doc is about getting a name, not necessarily just Michael Madsen. I do cover the question of whether it is good or not to go through managers and agents in the documentary, though...And this is why I interviewed the artists themselves...so you hear the answers from them and not us filmmakers that have very specific experiences sometimes...I certainly failed miserably in trying to get many name actors...but once you get rolling, it gets a little easier each time (depending on your work, of course).
