SGpro r3 with flip module and new EX1 fix - grabs and footage!

Hey Wayne, Yes I did notice the difference. My focus on the HVX was normally 61 and now with the new SG flip it's 41. Edge to edge sharpness is excellent I must say as well. Many thanks to you! What improvement will the new condenser make? Better light distribution?

Thanks, we worked hard designing the achromat to achieve good E2E.

The main difference between the condenser lens is a slight difference in focal length to get the best compromise between vignetting compensation and CA. To be honest, you may not get any benefit from changing...

do you have seen an improvement in sharpness respect the non flip version??
i would like to stay with my non flip version but the future x/y adjustment in the flip version and an ipotetical better sharpness is a temptation.
do you think that the x/y adjustment and a better high definition(sharper) achromat is not possible with the non flip version or is also in your working plan??
 
Hi,

There is a slight sharpness improvement with the new flip module although it is slight. I do not think you should upgrade to the flip based only on the sharpness increase.

We have no plans on offering X/Y adjustment to the 'non flip' solution.
 
Hello Wayne, can we upgrade the old flip to get the x/y adjustement? This would be so cool - because my HVX lens is very off.

Certainly, we are finalizing this now (looking great).

Once released, this will be also be an addon for all existing flip owners :)
 
The gate window inside the flip unit is off on every camera ive ever used it on, FX1/Z1, Z7, XLH1, XL2, XHA1, DVX100, HVX200, HPX500 etc etc.

Its never twisted or wonky, its just shifted over to one side of the cameras frame...
 
But its always the same ammount over, its always pretty much on title safe its never over more or less on differnt cameras...

Is the XY adjustment going to be a little screw that winds it across?
 
It is difficult to give much input on that since you had one of the 'letus' flips.

The X/Y adjustment will be via 4 setscrews - results have been perfect!
 
By that do you mean the flip with the old achromat or is it a totaly differnt unit? I dont like the idea of haivng anything letus :zombie_smiley:
 
Sounds like the X/Y adjustments are just around the corner. Glad to see Shoot35 keeping up with all the new enhancements.

I'm still confused by the flip situation and how this is playing out in the future. So, current flip owners who purchased before the "bubble" model will be able to upgrade with these new enhancements to their current flip and essentially have the same unit as to what is being shipped in future kits? The newer "bubble logo" flip looks the same as the letus version but with the upgraded achromat. Is this whole unit being replaced since you no longer use letus as the supplier?
 
That is correct.

We were limited in what we could improve or implement with the letus flip, our hands were pretty much tide when it came to this. There were also alignment issues with the prism that caused a little headache.
 
I just got the new achromat and Condenser for the Flip.

The beta flip that i had didint work at all.... it was forever soft.

Tim and i will test it out tommorow...... Hehehehehe.... Its playtime....
