Has anyone tried Kesslers new Hercules 2.0 Head? I talked to someone over there who said it was comparable to the bogen 316 or 526 but at 1/4 the price. Obviously it's a great crane head, but has anyone used it for Panning or tilting?

Cool, let us know how it is when you get it. I'm starting to get short on time and need to order some kind of head, and I'd love to get one that I could use for both Krane and regular use.

i have the entire package and its awesome. the head is a beast but smooth and stable.

Just received the Crane today. I got the K-pod and head and wow it is a beast! I was a bit concerned at how well it would work considering its price. No worries. Even with a bag of junk as a counter balance this thing is silky smooth. I'm running out tomorrow to get a set of weights for it. Outstanding value. I havent put the camera on the head yet to try it without the crane. I'll report back tomorrow with more resutls.

I have to say that I doubt I would want to use the Hercules head by itself all the time. It would work fine in a pinch but its a big head that wants alot of weight on it.

I wound up getting one - we're doing our first crane shoot with it Wednesday, and holy smokes that thing is huge and heavy! The airline wouldn't let our producer hand carry it on the plane because they considered it a weapon! So we had to pay an extra $100 to check it. It is pretty damn big to plop a little dvx on seeing as it's designed to handle up to 150lb's.

I also got a complete 8' Kessler w/ kpod and all....AWESOME!
Just added the dolly wheels...SUPER AWESOME!
This is some of the best engineering I've seen in quite awhile. Solid, smooth...and Eric is a great guy...you can't beat this stuff.

Kessler

Kessler

I just got my KC-8 Kessler Crane and tried to use it on my Manfrotto with a 501HDV head. The head is a great head but NOT good for the weight of this crane. Even when I try to lock the head's tilt function, there's not enough power to hold and the camera will tilt down but not being able to return to level. It would work perfectly on auto-leveling, I can feel that. But to get manual tilt control, I have to buy the Hercules head which is twice the price. I'll keep the Manfrotto head for my tripod or maybe for the end of the crane. But if you want manual tilt control, you need a good head on the tripod.
Did anybody else try to mount a Kessler on a not so heavy fluid head?
