Digital Beta to miniDV for editing on the PC

Hello,

I will have a Digital Beta tape containing original source footage. (Originally transfered to DigiBeta from 35mm film)

This tape will be copied to miniDV so that I may use my miniDV camera (the DVX100b) to trasfer the footage via firewire to the PC.

On the PC, I will capture this miniDV footage into Adobe Premiere.

My question is, will the quality of the footage being captured from the mini DV be the same as if it were being captured from the DigiBeta tape?

No, of course not; DigiBeta is one of the premium highest-quality standard-def recording formats ever invented.

DV's not bad, it's the best standard-def consumer format ever created. But it's got half the color resolution, 75% of the color depth, and about 3x as much compression as DigiBeta.

hmm.. is there a way to capture the DigiBeta tape directly to the PC for editing in like Adobe Premiere?

I basically want to edit that digital footage on the PC withouth losing any qaulity.

You can take it in analog component uncompressed if you have a break out box.
(just to avoid confusion... it is already compressed at 2:1... this would just allow you to not compress it further.)
If you take it to miniDV, not only will you compress it to 5:1, you will drop down to a 4:1:1 color. This is where you will see your loss, especially if trying to key anything.
