I decided to keep this one warmer, as suggested to me for my pics a few pages ago. I think that was a great suggestion:

Okay, it's official: 30 second exposure + pitch black park + holding really still + flashlight = Really Cool Fun!
So I talked my friend Dawn into going to a pitch black park in the middle of the night with me with a flashlight because I "had an idea", and below are the best results (there were dozens more that were not nearly as clear). It was TONS of fun to do! The pictures you see have not been touched up or modified at all, this is straight out of the camera and just resized.

way cool... did you just leave the camera dead still on long exposure while flash-lighting and posing still???... REALLY NICE!!!

30 second exposure, how come you don't see motion blur on your face I tried this and I stood as still as possible and I still see movement.

D300 with 17-55mm

I haven't done any Correction on this one, besides resize it. The colors looked in person just as good as the ones in the photo.

Crazy awesome pics dude. Man alive, just . . . Wow!

Fantastic job!

Just fantastic.

You only shine light directly on the subject's face (the area most likely to move and most needed to be still) for maybe 2 to 6 seconds, the rest of the time is spent dancing light around behind the subject, the subject is then further lit by the unavoidable ambiance.

I really like having the flash on one side like that personally. The strong shadow on the left gives it some good drama, as do the shadows across her back. Nice work. If you want to play remote flash alot, look into the stuff at gadgetinfinity.com. They are cheaply made and have their issues but at $30 or so they are pretty sweet.

2 things, 1 post.
Fitst, nothing special, but I'm glad it turned out so well. A long exposure of my local skyline (San Diego) at 2am, 28mm f/22. My dad love's it, so I think I'm gonna try to get a 36"x12" print of it done to hang in his apartment.

Next thing, more or less a brief review/brag-a-thon. The least I've ever paid for a lens was I think about $35, and it was for a Quantaray 135mm f2.8 lens. I was a little unsure of how it would perform, but I figured if it was mediocre, not a big monetary loss and hopefully I can sell it and get my $35 back. Well yesterday I went out and shot some headshots for my friend Reed, halfway through, took off my 55-200 zoom and popped this thing on, and LOVED it. Great focal length for portraits, nice sharp pictures, pleasing bokeh, and a really subtle warmth to it when compared to the other lens. Below are a couple of shots I liked the most.
