Audio track is causing my video to clip

I have been playing around laying music over one of my edited sequences. I imported a cd track and layed it over the video and the first time I played it back, I got a message (don't quite remember what it said, something about lost frames) and now whenever the timeline gets to that point it stutters for about half a second before continuing on smoothly.

If I mute the audio track it will play fine with no stuttering. It's making it impossible to find the proper entry point for the track because I can never preview it properly. Any advice?

CD tracks are 44.1 and your sequence is set for 48k. That's part of it.

Second... is the track still on the CD it is referencing? That could be slowing things down.

Third... What is your setup like? Could be that FCP is already chugging along because you have your video on your system drive.

Best bet: Rip the cd to 48 and place it on your scratch drive (other than system!!) and import it from there.

I assume you have all rights and causes to be using this music??

Thanks Bud! I'll check that out. Do Mac's come with ripping software? If not, know a good one? I just set this up last week. And I'm just auditioning the music at this point.
