Sorry about the large pictures! Can't get thumbs up for whatever reason. RIGHT CLICK AND DOWNLOAD!!! MY BANDWIDTH IS PRECIOUS!!!

Went out to Topanga And Temescal to grab footages to send back to m'GF's parents. And for some good ol exercise. Carried the HVX / LetusEx rig for a few miles. No Mattebox, but Follow Focus was there. NO external monitor. No tripod.

That means cut me some slack. =B

90/2.5 Vivitar VMC Macro

Tad bit of post sharpening added. Otherwise straight from camera. Getting used to using Cine-V, I think my settings should've been on 0 for Detail.

Where the grabs with the blue sky background shot at a small aperture or with the adapter turned off?... Is it the Ground Glass or camera Grain evident in the blue?
 
I'll post the footage up. It actually looks like HVX noise/banding to me. I'm not sure so I'll let others judge.

Doesn't look like GG grain, however.

EDIT: Also, the Aperture on the taking lens was 5.6 or a little over. =P I always push teh limits.

Hmmm! Funny that you say that. Although it's HVX banding noise up there (you'll see in the video)... Did I ever mention that NEAT will remove ground glass grain as well?

I may see what happens if I NEAT video it then output to a 42" LCD. I really don't wanna lose detail on anything.

Or a comparison clip for peoples. Hur hur =B

Then it's most likely static GG grain pattern. I don't know what you mean by noise banding but it really looks like what I saw when I tested the LEX at f/8 and below.

Here's a video of the sky shots.

Right click and download please. If you need a 720p to judge I'll try to get a small one out.

Banding: The HVX doesn't handle gradients properly. The sky's color gradually moves from lighter to darker, thus producing noise. If it were GG grain it would be all over and very visible from the shot of the boulder to her skin. ESPECIALLY when moving.

But, again, you be the judge.

720 version. Compression not all that spectacular but it should give you an idea on whether or not that's grain or just HVX noise you're seein'. I'll keep tryin' on the compression.
 
These stills are killer! It's crazy but I don't think it's all that grainy...

Maybe that's because I like a little grain...

Thanks! I am fine with the noise in the image! I still want a cleaner frame, but when it's all said and done I still don't mind it at this point.

I think what they were askin' about is the Ground Glass grain from the taking lens being stopped down. Definitely don't want that, but, in the video you would see the grain all over her arms and the rocks and it would be very apparent. I'm trying to export better compression for everyone to judge. 1080 comin up!
 
video was great! love the exposure, love the grading, if there was any. very very filmic.

what were your presets if you don't mind me askin monsieur?
 
I can't EVEN remember. That's all straight from the camera, though. :B I has no grading skillz. Or I've never actually tried it.

I did have a custom LetusExtreme Scene File on the 200 but it is now gone. When I get my hands on another Extreme I'll redo the file and post it up. It also might be in another thread but I'll have to find.

One thing about the 200A (this was shot with the 200, but now have 200A) is that I am having a hard time re-figuring the camera out. Like, now I'm overexposing all the time and I can't seem to tell WHEN I'm doing it. Gotta get used to it.
