I'm not talking about cutting a student film movie trailer but a typcial hollywood trailer. I'm very curious. Is there a place online which gives you at least a ball park price? Don't have to be exact, I just want to see some numbers?

I believe Zak Forsman used to cut trailers. I'm pretty sure I've seen him post dollar figures at one point...so you could search his posts but he'll probably chime in here.

Well, typically, Hollywood trailers go through a trailer house which has a stable of editors on permanent staff, so the editor doesn't really get paid per gig. Daily rates for a promo/trailer editor in Los Angeles are around 400 a day on the low end, to around 600 on the high. The studio gives the trailer house a budget to cover everything, which depending on the marketing budget of the film varies. Don't know exact numbers, as being an editor, that info is kept from me.

A typical package:
$7500 to present a rough cut/concept.
$7500 to finish it if the studio buys it.
As Batutta said above, these prices include EVERYTHING, including the voice-over. The studio provides the film, and I.P., splits of the audio and the credit block.

That's fascinating. I'm surprised how low those figures are. You'd think it'd be more.

Question 1: Does the studio provide a story board or trailer script of some sort with times codes etc?

Question 2: Is a "Trailer House" literally a trailer? As in the kinds that tornadoes often destroy?
