I currently have Final Cut Pro 5 and I am using atleast 5 video layers and rendering is taking forever. I heard some good thing about faster or real time editing and rendering in Final Cut Pro 6. My question is how much better and faster is FCP 6 v.s. 5? I am editing 1080i/30 frames per seconds. Also is keying out green screen easier to do in FCP 5 or 6 or is it equal? Thank you.

Not faster. Speed is all based on your computer processor, RAM and graphics card. FCP 6 has more options, more compatibility with other formats.

Shane,

So do you think keying out green in Final Cut Pro 5 is equal to keying out in Final Cut 6?

Also, would you recommend keying out in Final Cut Pro or After Effects?

Thanks

The built in tools for FCP 5 and 6 are identical. But they are not the best to use for many occasions. I either use Keylight in After Effects, or Shake...although I am thinking about getting DV Matte Pro from DVGarage.
