Using Brightcove Video Players for the web...

According to Brightcove, your video has to be compressed into a Flash File (FLV) to work with their players. I have never done a flash file yet. That's not compatible with the formats in FCP or QT Pro right? I am guessing a 3rd party software would be needed? I tried exporting from FCP and selecting QT Conversion but didn't see anything that resembled a FLASH option.

Or you can use the brightcove publish pod that's a free download from them and convert it into flash. You probably will get better results doing the flash conversion yourself because you have more control option versus the publishpod but it will work.

Noah do I just download the FLASH player? Once downloaded do I just upload my video and compress it with that or would I need something else?

Flash player will only play flash files. You need the full version of flash - I have flash 8. Makes very small, great looking files, but takes FOREVER!

I use Sorensen Squeeze to get to flash. Then - it's drag-and-drop to the Brightcove Publish Pod and you're set. Great service by the way.

We'll see if they survive. Some people (like TMZ) complain about their load times but others (Elle, Car & Driver, Weather Channel, etc.) seem happy. I really like Brightcove. Smart people.
