A quick WWII shot from my DIY adapter

I filmed this on my HVX with a DIY adapter that I made. I used the SGPRO achromat and the redrock ground glass. I used a minolta f 1.4 50mm lens. I also color corrected it heavily to give it a war look. I have been studying how to make a DIY adapter for about 2 months and finally got the nerve to give it a go. I spent a total of about $240. Thanks to everybody on this forum for your knowlege. Next step is the rails!

looks pretty nice! I would say that with the grading, or perhaps the footage is exposed like that, it is slightly over exposed, making the bokeh on his helmet have that strange edge along the over exposed bit. Play around with the curves and see if you can make it a bit smoother in the hilights transition
:)

Oh yeah, I did crush the blacks, boost the mids and highs and lower the saturation to give it a wwII look. Maybe that's what's causing the over exposed look?

yeah, other than the slightly over exposed bit, it looks amazing. i would like to see other various shots, and how you worked with it. Looks great, keep it up.

Thanks thetony, I am very pleased with it. Once I get some rails on it I will be filming some shorts and I can post more footage then. The WWII shoot was for my special effects and compositing class so I filmed all of it without the adapter except for this first shot.

Nice!

On my screen a tad too much chrushed blacks and too much highlights.

Love that german language lines.

.... but wait until you see my Timefest entry. Germans that act GIs including english text.

That´s probably the time for you to laugh.

Thanks for the comments. Can wait to see your time fest entry. So the Germans are pretending to be Americans? By the way, my Opa (Grandpa) in law is from Germany. He lives in San Diego now but fought for the Germans in Stalingrad and was taken as a POW by the Russians. He's go some great stories! Thanks again for the comments!

Thanks! I didn't think it was that great, but yesterday I showed it to the top video professors at my university that I really respect and they were very impressed and said it should be at the front of my reel!
