Paul Verhoevn to make film about Jesus...

"How can I call a lot of attention to myself and my work?"
"Make it really good?"
"No, too hard."
"Piss off a bunch of people by writing something controversial?"
"Brilliant!"

didn't he already do his Jesus movie?

My God... (no pun intended...Ok, just a little).

Actually I'm a bit fed up with these Jesus movies. I don't see movies on Buddah, or Muslim's prophet, or whatever. Its always the easy target, because catholics and Christians are moderate.

This story has been told before, and its not going to change a Jesus believer into a non believer, and vice-versa. If the intention is playing with people's faith, I don't consider that entertainment. Either is a serious, historical rendition of the tale, which is in itself practicaly impossible, or it just ends up being another personal lacklustre portrait of Christian's prophet. This has been done before, in a musica, in a slasher/action/drama, in an Epic, etc.

Enough is enough.

On another note, what will he do, Mary Magdalene doing a Sharon Stone like leg cross?

I can't believe I'm sounding conservative here. But, really, give it a rest.

Verhoeven should concentrate on exploring what he does best- filming women, doing satire, suspense, and spectacle, like he did in "The Black Book".

I'm really skeptical about this. This movie has to be absolutely brilliant to catch my atention...
