I want to advertise myself, but...

I have no experience with lighting. Do you think it's bad for me to advertise myself as a videographer without even being able to use lighting? I have been hired ONCE so far, and it was to make 2 videos. I was paid $1500 (I thought that was awesome since I barely had any experience). I am in need for money right now and I want to start filming, but I may lack all of the equipment. I own an XHA1 and a tripod.

Ah, equipment does not necessarily make the craftsman videographer. Certainly learning your craft is a necessity, however, learning about business may be even more important. Most videographers are out of business within three years. Why? Because they never learn about business and can never figure out how to get the next job...That's marketing. This is not a quick buck business, so you disturbed me with the "I need money right now" part. That says perhaps you'd be best served by having a regular job while you PLAN how you would run this business, and what you would need to make it a success. Good Luck!

I don't want it as a main job, just for side cash. I just needed suggestions...

There's plenty of jobs that don't require complicated lighting setup. If you're just staring out, you're unlikely to get clients who have that kind of needs. Most of it will be lower paying weddings or live event coverage. If you actually get clients who demands a full light kit, then they'll be paying you accordingly and you can bill them for the rental of the equipments. But to be honest, that type of client will not hire you anyway unless you can prove that you know exactly what you're doing. Which is why it's important to have a good demo reel that shows off your strength, and a website that you can refer people to.
