Just send your audio somewhere that doesn't exist in FCP, like out via firewire that's not hooked up. Might be able to disable it in that window too but not sure.

That's what I tried in "audio/ video settings" and then I selected the "av devices" tab. All the options are grayed out. The only available option is "built in audio" or "default"

I guess try what Zander suggested, which is a good option unless you have a lot of audio tracks.

That works for footage that's in the timeline but not if I'm just pulling up footage from the browser into the viewer...Is there a way to turn that off?
