How do people protect there microphones from rain & wind with a kata raincover?
just bought the kata rc-14 raincover & there's no way i can use my sabra som shockmount with it cause it makes the rode mic too high off the camera to fit into the kata's mic cover section.
does anyone have a shockmount that sits low enough to use inside a kata?
i can put the mic on the crappy mic holder that comes with the dvx & fit it inside the kata but then part of the cover & mic is in shot on a full wide, and there is no way i can squeeze my rycote softie in too.
Is there an alternative raincover for the dvx that will accomodate a shokmount, mic & softie?
At the moment my only option is to have the mic & softie exposed to the elements coming out the top of the kata - I'm pretty sure it won't take much rain to 1stly reduce the softies wind protecting qualities & then drip into the mic. I've wrapped a plastic bag around it but don't feel confident it will keep the rain out
I know the obvious answer is to get the mic off the camera anyway but i'm normally working on my own documenting events so don't have much choice really
Does anyone know of an alternative cover or do i just go with the plastic bag scenario?
