No Audio playback in Log and Transfer (sometimes)

Anybody had this problem?

I have found that restarting the program will allow me to have sound in Log and Transfer. However, if I close the L/T window, and edit etc n the workflow, then open up the L/T, I lose sound again...until I restart FCP.

This problem does not effect the footage, however. When I open up logged footage in the sequence, the sound is intact.

I have fooled around with the audio playback settings to no avail. I'm sure there is a simple solution to this problem. I'm a novice when it comes to FCP

same problem no solution

same problem no solution

Same here, any help wood be great!
its driving me crazy. Sometimes I have to restart (comp.) 10 times!!!!
Today I got no sound at all.
Went back to Quikctime 7.3 upgraded to 7.4.5, trashed prefs. fixed permissions and
prayed to god......Nothing

Are you guys sure you have the "preview" box checked in the log and capture clip settings window?
When you have the log and capture window open it's one of the tabs on the top right of the window.

Log and capture? Do you mean the log and transfer window? Because I believe the two are completely different.

You're right Jason. My bad. I read log and transfer and was thinking log and capture. I use the log and capture. Sorry for the confusion. Hope you get it figured out.

OK. I think I figured it out. Atleast it works for me:

1. Open FCP and go to audio/video settings...

2. Since my project is set to "DV NTSC 48 kHz" it is already highlighted, I click on edit and it will ask you to make a copy of it. Click yes. A new window will pop open with some settings to change.

3. Once the window is open, I click on cancel and the window closes. Also close the audio/video settings window with all your presets.

4. After, open the Log and Transfer window and now I have audio.

Now I have no idea what is going on here. Just that it has worked for me over and over again.

Let me know if you have any questions or feel that I left something out.
