I don't know where to post this!
I'm looking for a steadicam, not very expensive for my system rig(hvx200, m2 RR, FF, Rod Supp, mattebox) that weighs about 15-16lbs. I've just found this Varizoom "FlowCam GT" http://www.varizoom.com/products/stabilizers/vzgt.html
Looks great, cheap (I guess) and can support 16lbs (camera weight).
I don't know much about steadicams, and I don't have much money either, I want to spent max. 4000$. The FlowCam GT looks very "fragile"

, I have no idea how this will stabilize. What do you think? Should I buy it? What would you buy?
Any other suggestion for my rig?
Thank you, excuse my english!

Is the varizoom a double arm/spring design? I would do an extensive amount of research when spending in the neighborhood of $4k.

Flyer costs in the neighborhood of $8k to $11k depending on setup/options and can support an HVX and adapter. I would suggest a glidecam X-10 for that price range.

Look for a system with a good arm. The feedback from an arm with good bearings will make or break a shot. The sled gimble is also important along with Vest adjustability.

If you want dependability and proven performance, take out a fat loan for the Flyer.

the weight capacity of the varizoom seems right, but don't know much about the model. we have the x-10 (an upgraded smooth shooter arm) that we're lovin. with four springs at maximum tension, the camera load is balanced perfectly at about 13 lbs (not including glidecam, weights, lcd). with a heavier camera load, you will need another setup.

edit:
if you're so inclined, you could probably shave a couple of pounds off your rig by changing the heavier redrock baseplate and rods out for lighter stuff.

I would reccomend the stedicam flyer (same unit hoarp has) as I have been able to fly even an HDX900 on it. The build, engineering, gimble, arm, tools free operations are unmatched by any manufacturer.

The steadicam Flyer it's up to 4000$. Seems to be a great choice, but not for my pocket. The less expensive version it's about 6400 $ (adorama.com). I know that someone will say that it's the cheapest steadicam for my kind of rig system, but a poor guy like me :D won't be able to pay 6k or even more for a steadicam.

Avenger007 said "Is the varizoom a double arm/spring design?" - looks like a single arm design, for this reason I've said it looks very "fragile".
The glidecam X-10 seems to support only up to 10 lbs used with the Glidecam 4000 Pro. Am I wrong?
I was thinkin about changing the baseplate and rods many times before, but this will only reduce aprox. 2lbs.

I know it's very difficult to find a cheap steadicam wich is able to support 15-16 lbs without any problems.

What about FS PRO ? Did you hear about it? http://www.fsprostab.com/english/index.htm

They say it can support from 5 to 20 lbs. (2825 $ CAD).

Thanks to all of you, I really appreciate your help!

as i mentioned above, the x10 arm will take a 13 lb max load (3 lbs over the advertised capacity). one rig that didn't get mentioned but is pretty well-regarded is terry thompson's indicam pilot. it's purportedly got a load capacity of 15 lbs, and might be worth checking out as it falls nicely in your budget.
