suggestions for a home based business?

ugafan

Looking for a woman
anyone have some ideas on a home based business i could start? i don't really want to do weddings, what else is out there?

Events? Publicity or trailers for events? Advertising..

Not sure.. I'm sure someone will come up with something. =)

Ummm.......you could go the route of those Texas home owners who were being sued because the neighbors were tired of all the noise late Friday and Saturday nights ;-) or you could just make an online business by buying stuff at thrift stores and selling in on eBay. I hear The Dot-Com Boom 2.0™ is on its way!

Wish I could be of more help, but I've been seeking the answer to this question for years!

I think the thing is, these ideas have to be so original to work, and if you get a good answer on a forum. Everybodys gonna use it. So i'm not sure. That's my perspective of it, but it doesn't mean that I'm in no way supportive of you. If I think of something I'll post. =)

Start a video blog. If you're good, it could make money. That's what my wife did with www.dabbler.ca

the funny thing is that after she started the blog she keeps getting contracts to do OTHER stuff like promo videos etc.

Nobody likes dry turkey... become the goto guy for perfectly moist turkey with your brand new home baste business!

Don't like that? Well how about Plan number 2... "kids in the attic daycare"...?

I like it!

Hey UGA - Can you draw?

I've heard of a lot of people who do text book editing and drafting from home. Not sure how to break into it, though. My wife is currently looking to find a work-from-home job in remote learning education. She has taught at a public school for the past 6 years, and now we're researching ways to administer a classroom from home. Just a couple thoughts...

My sister in law did medical transcriptions from home after having her first kid. She was able to do her work at night and be a mom during the day. Not sure she slept much but it paid some bills.

They also have jobs where you can answer customer service phone calls for companies from your home. There are a few restrictions, but I hear it pays well. Also, do you have any talents? You could do something that has to do with filmmaking!

(1) well start up a local newsletter for your area, at first distribute for free, nothing fancy just local gossip, black and white cheapo photocopy,

(2) then add content to allow feedback, usual newletter stuff, readers letters, comments etc,

(3) once you have a nice weekly thing going with postive reader base established, opproach local bussinesses in your area, tell them about your newsletter and audience and basically sell small cheap ads, over time these ads WILL grow, from interest from other local businesses, its hard work,

(4) eventually you can expand as your number of paid ads increase, you can slowly move towards proper printed newsletters etc.

Think I'm joking?

well think again, this model worked so damn well in our area (we have one monthly one that has hundreds of ads) I was on the verge of copy cating this idea, but realised that I could'nt cut in on the market, it has to be done in an area where there isn't a local newletter already.

Now when you make some money please feel free to give me some money for the pointer.

Hey, Anhar, that is really reat. Here where I live (a small mountainous community in Northern central California) someone did that very thing and it worked wonderously.

ugafan, if you consider doing this, feel free to PM me (and probably Anhar) for examples of what people in our areas included in their newsletters. I'll even scan and send you a copy of one edition if you'd like.
