We recently shot some green screen work in the trusty garage using an Azden SGM1X shotgun mike to record dialogue into a Panasonic DVX-100A. In addition to normalizing the audio in Premiere 1.5, what are some other filters which might help to improve dialogue audio level and quality during editing?

Thanks!

Usually, I just normalize and EQ(a little darker for male voice). If there is some room or mechanical noise, I do a little noise reduction. Sounds like you have the production technique down. Now, It is nothing more than sweetening for tast and style.

Appreciate the response, Jeffrey. Actually, we're faced with a couple of issues; first, the audio level is a bit low, which normalizing seems to remedy and secondly, there's an audible ballast hum from the flourescents we used to illuminate the green screen. I know there's a Wrigley tutorial on noise reduction; how do you do it?

Thanks again!

You have to go to spectra view. This view will show you bright areas. Usually, the hum will look lik a line. Pick an area were the person is not talking and select the line area only and right click. From there, select capture noise reducion profile. Once it has taken this sample, go to effects-noise reduction. You have an area were you can select the area selected or full prodject. At first use a small db. for example 10 to 15. You may have to do this more than once. If you go to high or too many times, you will get echo.
I do not have the programe on this computer, so, I am going by memory. Hope this helps.
