Hello there, I am taking a seven week trip through Europe this summer and I plan to document the entire trip in HD.
I have a few ideas about what do to. Firstly I was thinking about simply bringing a small camera and a huge amount of tapes with me and then uploading them all when I returned home. The more practical idea that occurred to me was to bring my Mac book along. That way every evening i would be able to dump all of the footage I took to the hard drive and name the clips as I went. Once I returned home I would transfer all of the footage to a Mac Pro equipped with Final Cut Pro for editing and so on.
So a few questions:
What medium should I record onto? Tapes? Flash Memory? Hard Drive? DVD's?
What camera would be able to deliver fairly high quality yet be relatively small, I am going to be carrying it with me practically everywhere so the smaller the better.
(I am willing to sacrifice smallness for higher quality, lower price, etc.)
Is my transfer idea viable? Or is there a better way I might go about doing this?
(I own a 250g portable hard drive)
The cost I'm aiming for is less than $1200 (Willing to go a bit higher)
Any other suggestions would be wholeheartedly appreciated!
Thank you!
