Down converting HPX-500 hd footage to DV

Hi all,

I need to down convert 720 hd material shot on a HPX 500 in 16X 9 to DV tape.

When I use Compressor the footage gets squeezed into a 4x3 frame.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi All,

I have a 720pa sequence ( 16X9 ) that I want to get onto DV tape. When i use Compressor in FCP the footage is squeezed.

Any suggestions on preserving the 16X9 aspect in FCP.

I had a similar need to downconvert HPX500 720 p HD unedited straight from P2 cards to DV tape (don't ask why) in my car while driving cross country.
My solution was to use HVX200 to xfr HD to mini DV - it preserved the 16x9 and 24p
I think downconverted footage may look better than DV originated tape because of better lens on the 500 and shallow DOF that 200 would not provide.

I did what you suggested and rendered it. Looks like it worked fine. However the video doesn't play from the timeline through the firewire. I hear the audio but get a still frame on the monitor. If I start and stop the timeline the still jumps to the new location.

Any suggestions?

Yes, I have it all set this way. The video moves on the monitor if I scrub through, but won't if I just play it.
 
What are you using for export to tape? The HPX500? Make sure its in DV recording mode.
