New Custom Nikon Mount For Letus Is Available

I did not have to use the screws on the new mount, for back focus. I did use some calipters, to make sure the ground glass was square where the mount was attached and all around the mount. This has improved over all sharpness edge to edge. I think this may have a tendency to get out of alignment over time and travels.

Well that's good to know. It's like an easter egg for the Letus.

My primitive technique: I layer gaffer/camera tape of various thickness evenly around four sides of the front opening of the Extreme. Then hold the mount with lens up against the tape. I have an object 3 or 5 feet away (measured from the ground glass). I set the lens to that focus distance. Adjust the amount of tape until it's dialed in. Tighten. Remove the tape (slowly and carefully). This leaves a very thin even gap. Check a few lenses. Primitive? yes. Works? seem to.

I think I like the screws on the back idea better.

Kholi seems to have a way to set back focus - do tell.

Same way as Steve, actually! That's pretty much the way to adjust backfocus, although you should be careful when doing so. VERY careful in fact. =B

I use a gap tool (for spark pugs) to insure that I have the same space all around I was planning on having some spacers made. Perhaps with the new mount I won't have to do that.

Hello
I got my Letus + Nikon mount today. Infinity focus is not possible. Now i read about the backfocus screws, but they don't solve my problem. Why? I checked the lenses without the mount: The distance between the optic and the adapter is too far. If I go nearer the adapter, the infinity focus gets 100% sharp! The mount is too thick. The screws would help if I would need to have a longer distance, but they are already screwed in and there is no way to make the distance shorter...
Hm, any suggestions?

Rainer
