What happens when 23.98 footage is played on a 59.94 timeline?

Are there any problems with that? it seems to playback fine.

Sorry for the abundance of questions... I'm literally losing my full head of hair by the second!!!
 
Nothing...plays back and looks like 23.98 footage, as it should. If you have FCP 6 then you will get a dark green render bar...meaning that the settings are off a little, but that is true.

A full render will have to be done at the end...
 
FCP will add the extra pulldown frames so it looks correct, HOWEVER, it is no true telecine pulldown with blended interlace frames. If you've ever seen telecined footage, there will be normal progreseeive frames, and then blended interlace frames where you see one frame in half a field, and the next frame in the other field and the screen flickers between the two. FCP can't do this far as I know. You can use a plug in, Nattress standards conversion to do this, or encode in compresser or JES Deinterlacer (really an amazing program considering it's free).
