My Online Portfolio -- Feedback Please!

I just completed my online portfolio, and I would sure appreciate some feedback. The intention is to highlight my work as a writer/producer. Check it out and let me know what you think: MsManhattan Online Portfolio

Thanks in advance! I appreciate your time and look forward to your comments.

By the way, for the time being I'm just using the free hosting service provided with my domain name registration, so GoDaddy puts a hideous banner across the top... Sometime next month, after reviewing feedback and tweaking, I will likely upgrade to a paid hosting plan so I won't be encumbered by the banner...

Overall I think it's good. There's a lot of text/words and I ended up doing a lot of skimming. I've found that people have very short attention spans and cutting back on text may be helpful. One suggestion (for whatever it's worth) simplify the longer paragraphs with bullet points or lists or pictures and then you can have links to the greater detail. I realize you've sort of done that already, but it still had more text than I took the time to read. Just my 2 cents. Definitely go for your own site without the banner - I can recommend someone I found on these boards who can provide service at a very good rate. I've been using him for almost a year and plan to renew.

Thanks, Tumbleweed, I appreciate it. I wondered if I would get feedback about the amount of text, and sure enough. I guess it's an occupational hazard -- I'm a writer, after all. I will definitely consider trimming it since you echoed the one concern I already had.

Ultimately I was attempting to share production anecdotes that would illustrate that I'm resourceful, experienced, a good manager, a problem-solver, fun to work with, and just an all-around excellent person to know (j/k on that last bit)... I'm sure I could still bring that across with a good edit, though. Thanks so much again for taking time to visit the site and especially for the review.

Personally, I don't like the picture you have of you. Now, I don't mean your ugly, and that it isn't a good picture of you, NOT AT ALL! What I mean is, it just doesn't look to professional. Maybe a black and white head shot?

Here are some thing I came up with:

Just my opinion.

The pic you have is not good - you look fine, but the shot isn't good. It is too close at a wide-angle, gives distortion. You need a longer lens picture of yourself, slightly blurred background. Appropriate CCing and maybe a vignette.

Lots of text and information. For impatient and America and people like me... SHOW ME THE MONEY! I want a can't miss link/clip to your best work to WATCH, immediately. I didn't see anything to watch, so if it is there, draw my attention with that first, and then once that is done, and ppl are impressed, THEN they will read. No-one will read all that without first being impressed.

Thanks for the additional feedback. It never occurred to me that the links wouldn't be noticeable (each film title heading is a link, but I see that the underlining just looks like a header style), so I've just updated the site and made every single image a link as well (which I should've done from the beginning anyway...). So, thanks for the prompt to do that.

I also broke up some of the text into smaller sections on the About Me page, but am leaving most of the text alone for now. I'm on deadline with another project and aside from that, I'm hoping that if someone is looking for a writer, they'll be willing to read what I've written for my site, and if someone is looking for a producer, who ultimately must be a good communicator, they'll be interested in how I've communicated information on my site. That said, I definitely see some room for edits later when I'm off deadline.

Mulling over the whole photo thing...

So thanks again! The feedback is truly helpful and I really appreciate your time.

One thing I'd suggest is a less personal picture. I don't like the use of courier either.
