What's the average cost of dvd authoring?

I've been googling and haven't really found an average price on what to charge someone for dvd authoring/.menus, etc. I've really never done it for anyone but I'm courious to know what would be a reasonable price?

What I would be doing is the encoding, animated menus, music, pretty much everything you would see in a typical hollywood dvd. I just want to be fair but also hook them up as well. ? Anyone have any answers? thanks

Most post houses charge a flat fee for an edit bay, regardless of whether it's editing, encoding, exporting, burning..

Like editing, DVD authoring is a learned skill that you need an experienced author and proper software. I think I charge around $45-$60 an hour for it, since IMO it's a bit more specialized than basic editing. To "hook them up" sometimes I will do an overnight render/encode when it's going to take more than an hour, and charge a low rate for that since I wouldn't have been using my machine anyways.

For menus, if I made something in AE/Motion for the menu, that would count as motion graphics, not dvd authoring in my book. Motion graphics costs more. Only when I'm linking chapters/menus/stories do I charge time for authoring.

Hope this helps.
