yea thats what the Cinemek/Go35/Brevis guys are workign on. grainless diffusers. but its difficult and expensive to research.
Has there been any progress in the deveopement of grainless ground glass?
Also what in your opinion is the best achromat and closest thing to a grainless ground glass available. I want to build my own 35mm static adapter for my own purposes. Trying for the sharpest image possible. Concerned with light lose, but as long as I don't loose more then 1.5 to 2 stops I'll be fine. I will be using it mostly for outdoor daytime shoots.
Thanks
Grench
The adapters have nothing to do with the amount of DOF. The DOF is created by the lens and the lens only. You can take all the adapters with the same focal length lens on each and all set to the same aperture and the DOF will be the same in all of them. All you're doing is photographing the image created by the lens, and all the lenses will create the same image. When you buy a camera and you mount a particular lens on it and use the same lens on another camera does the DOF change? The answer is no. That's like saying that 2+2 equals 4 but on Mondays it equals 5,
DOF is created by the focal length of the lens and the aperture selected, nothing more. the groundglass is displaying the image created by the lens and the video camera is photographing the groundglass. I've been asked which 50mm lens will give you better DOF a Nikon 50mm 1.4 or a Canon 50mm 1.4. Used at the same aperture at the same distance they will give you the same DOF. 50mm is 50mm and no one can change that!
