text in Motion comes out way different in FCP

I'm doing titles for a film I'm editing and I'm using Motion. I got everything just the way I like it, the fades, the text style, etc.

At first I just exported the title clips and put them in my timeline and everything was fine. But this became bothersome when I needed to make changes to the titles; I had to export them all over every time I made a change. So then I remembered that there's a way to have a direct link between FCP and Motion, so I started using that method, and yeah, it's a lot more convenient BUT... the titles don't look the same in FCP. They're quite different and unacceptable.

So when I export the titles and make them into DV clips all is fine and there's no difference between what I see in Motion and what I see in FCP. But when I use the "proper" way to work with Motion in FCP I get this huge problem.

What the problem actually is is that the text is losing opacity. Light blue text on a black background and you can't make out what it says.

Anyway, what gives? Does anyone know what I can do about this problem?

After using the direct link method, does fcp export it looking bleh like you describe? Sometimes it's just how fcp renders the appearance in your viewer...

Just tried exporting it. Same thing.

Here's the crazy thing, when I import the motion proj into FCP and load it into the viewer it looks as it should. But when I add it to the timeline and see it on the canvas, it's mangled.

I don't get it. So strange.

Help?

So, are people just baffled by this question that they just have no words, or is it something so obvious that it's below anyone to comment on?

I've come to notice that there are not a vast majority of motion users around that often, so they most likely just do not have an answer.

I'll give something like this a shot myself and see what happens.

So far after some basic experimenting, everything is working fine for me. Can you give me the details? resolutions/font/etc.

If you can get back to me by 3 then I can work on this further.

Thanks for taking the time to investigate this.

Here are the settings I'm using:
font: Andale Mono
size 32
all caps
caps size 60%

style:
color (it's a light blue) red 0.71 green 0.84 blue 1.00
opacity 42%
blur 0
no outline
glow:
gradient (atlantic blue preset)
opacity 76%
blur 1.00
radius 5.00
no drop shadow

bg color black

I could also just send you the file if you want to take a look at it.

When you bring it into FCP in the viewer it looks fine but on the canvas it significantly loses opacity. The problem is mainly with the opacity not color or size. Because the style I'm using has low opacity it doesn't render true in FCP.

I did exactly what you descirbed with yoru settings. Nothing seems out of place to me, and on a preview monitor it looks fine.

The text is small, and pretty opaque. How it looks on black is not how it will look over other colors if that is what you are going for. Does that answer your questions?
