Ikan 8000HD monitor cables-how do I connect?

I am connecting my DVX100a to (my new) Ikan 8000HD monitor and I have a choice to connect to the "video" connection (BNC connection but I think it's composite), S-Video, and Component (also BNC connections). Now, I'm pretty sure I have RCA cables inputs on the DVX (one for video and two for audio) and I know I have an S-video input, so what should I use to get the best image on the monitor?

It doesn't look like I have Y, Pb, Pr Component inputs on the DVX so is the RCA cable the best way to connect?

I have done so and I get, I don't know the technical term, very minute wavy lines (more noticeable in a darker environment). The wavy lines aren't obtrusive but it doesn't seem that I am getting the best resolution.

Finally, for the RCA cables I am using a Radio Shack "Premium Gold Series" cable.

Can anyone tell me if I am doing this the best way or if there is a better way to get a better picture? Or at least how to remove the wavy lines?

Thanks!

Is S-video the best? One thing I've noticed is that the S-video cable easily slips out of the input.

From my understanding, S-Video is better than your RCA inputs.

In my experience, CAREFULLY and SLIGHTLY bending the s-video cable's connector metal housing with needle nose pliers a little could improve the tight fit. (Be weary of the pins and do at your own risk).

By the way,

Can anyone tell me what BNC Connector Adapter I'll need to connect my camera supplied component cables to the Ikan monitor? It accepts BNC Connectors... what do I need to do to convert this?

Thanks,

Jason

Hi Jason,

All you need is a set of 3 Female BNC connectors with RCA Female on the other end. They are only about 20mm long. Twist connect these onto the Monitor BNC Male (be very careful not to over tighten, as the BNC connectors are attached direct to the board inside the plastic housing and can be easily damaged. You will find the the Female BNC end will be sought of spring loaded so you push on and very gently twist to lock. Then you can plug one end of your RCA cable into the Female RCA end of the connector and the other into your DVX.
