Who Needs a Movie?

If it is satire then it is brilliant. If it is real then the contents of this thread are very mean spirited.

I don't know if it's satire. I called the phone number on the video to ask their rates, but I got a voicemail saying "this is Fred, you're call is very important, please leave a message." I don't know any satire that puts a real phone number up on the internet (or buys a phone line with a voicemail dedicated to answer "this is fred." Possible... but I don't know).

As for it being mean spirited if its not a satire to the above poster, I dunno. If it's not satire and they are presenting themselves as a video business on the web and posting on youtube, they are opening themselves up to any criticism. It's not like they came here asking for advice and help to improve and people started bashing them - I think that would be mean, instead of encouraging and helping them. But they are presenting themselves as a business and not asking for advice. And its absoluetly horrendous to the point where people have to question if it's satire. If it's not, that's pretty hilarious. I don't think that makes me mean spirited. I would help them if they posted here for advice, and not be rude to them.

boo hoo.

they put their stuff up on the net for people to see.

Can't take the heat don't jump in the fire.

This still makes me laugh. It may not be satire, guys, and if it is, than it's great. I agree that it is not mean spirited, they ask for it when they put such insane things out there.

Wow, this is a great example of what you learn at film school.

They're filming events, giving their real number, I doubt it's satire.

Did anyone else goto their actual website? They had a ton of video content there, but now it's gone except for one or two videos, and you can, get this, PAY A DOLLAR to see the rest.

One word for this: Genius.

Step 1: Make silly viral videos
Step 2: One of them catches fire on youtube, and is linked all over forums and link sites
Step 3: Remove other videos that USED to be viewable
Step 4: Charge $1 to see those other videos

Think about it... if just 10% of the 600,000 people who have watched the "who needs a movie" clip went to the site and paid the $1, to watch the others, that's $60,000.

Pure genius.

What the hell kind of film school have you been attending??!!?
One where films are being taken in an abstract form and considered "art"...No joke, I went to apply for a graduate program for film by my house and they told me "Narrative film is dead"

If that was their strategy - pure genius indeed!

If you have been doing this stuff long enough you have seen it all. I have two vhs tape demo done by the owners of the companies that take the cake. One is some scientists that made their own video to raise venture capital and that was the top billing until a good friend of mine called and asked me to help him make one of his website customers a little more respectable. This video I'll put against anything and I mean its funny. The guy is talking about his products at the kitchen table when the phone rings and he answers it during the presentation and leaves it in his video. No the phone call had nothing to do with his product. You can't believe it until you see it for yourselfs. I built a nice front end for it and edited it some but it was like putting $4000 worth of wheels on a rambler. But its funny.

We need a thread for the worst video of all time!

I'm sure you can't post it for various reasons... BUT... you can't tease us like that and then not show it!

filmguy123 I'm in Seattle so if you come up to this area we should meet up and I'll show it to you. I'd love to put it on youtube but could never do that. Then again I probably could get permission from the owner if I asked!

It's actually quite challenging to make something that bad. But put in some hard work and long hours and someday, maybe you'll get there.
