Rode XLR/3.5 mm pin adapter

Greetings!

I recently purchased a Rode XLR adapter for a Sony lavalier mic with a 3.5mm pin. I can't seem to get any sound from it in my DVX. Should the adapter work with this mono mic and the DVX?

I don't think it works that way. Since that Lavalier isn't powered (I'd imagine you can't phantom power it without frying it) it wont really work.

I don't know very much about sound though.
