Cheap HD Field Monitor

i bought one before christmas and it sat in the box until this past week when i used it for a client review monitor on a chromakey shoot. worked REALLY well. way, WAY better than my 32" samsung hd lcd. and nearly as sharp as my little 8" ikan.

i say BUY it! at the price, use it once and it pays for itself!

Which monitor are you taking about?

The TEAC 12" or the Sharp?

I've never heard of this company, but this is the cheapest LCD monitor I've seen with Component Video Inputs.

Hyvision by Megavision MV220 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor - 5ms, 1000:1, WSXGA+ 1680 x 1050, DVI, VGA, Component Video, Black, Integrated Speakers

I'm shooting a Black and White HVX feature pretty soon, and I just need something for basic focus. Anyone have any experience with this. Just the name of the monitor sounds ridiculous, but it has 60+ reviews on Tigerdirect and it has a pretty good rating all things considered.

The Sharp doesn't appear to be selling anywhere anymore (except for refurb depot). Has it been updated? The flip feature is really what makes it an attractive option.

I have not made the jump to the HVX yet due to babies and gas prices, but If I am using a DVX100a with the LEX. Should I use an old school CRT TV with S-Video input for focusing or can I use one of the small Flat panels like mentioned in this post? I can get around the bulkiness of it, If I have to take it back to 89.
