Just noticed their Sager NP9262... a quad core desktop replacement computer (laptop) with 3 hard drives, RAID options and a GeForce 8800 512MB. Not as expensive as I've seen for specs like that (tho, never seen 3 HDs). Anyone know about these machines, the company, reliability, etc? Are they any good? They look slick on the website but I have nothing else to go on.

Yes,
Sager makes very good laptops.
Mostly sold to government use.

I have had one for a long time, untill I needed to upgrade due to age/ technology improvements.

They did have a problem of the hinges breaking, and I had such a model, but it never happened to mine.

I think that has been resolved. For a long time they offered good bang for the buck, then they became popular with the gaming crowd, and the prices went up.

When the hinge problem came up,
many dropped them, and moved to other products.

It looks like the prices may be coming back down. They are very good for making what you want in a laptop.

I have a sony (usually over priced for what you get, due to the name you are paying for), I use every day. It replaced my Sager. I purchased this because I got it as a closeout display model, that was missing the page up key. I have since replaced the keyboard to resolve that. Originally the laptop was $1,300 I bought it for $599 because of the missing key.

My workhorse laptop, has 1080p capability, it is too big to cary every day. It was custom built by Gateway, and I was able to get that done for less than the Sager, so I went that route. That also allowed me to stick with windows XP instead of going with the ram hog problem prone Vista.

but I digress.....

Yeah Sager usually packs a lot of technology into their laptops.

I think the "look" is a little dated, and I found a lower price and was able to get everything I wanted...so I went with something else.

Core 2 duo 7400 processor
4 gigs of ram
1920x1280 screen
256 meg Dedicated video memory
dvd burner
sata hard drive
full sized keyboard
6 months same as cash, under $2,000
