Gore/Monster Effects for Horror Movie

I'm making a horror movie and I need realistic (as little CGI as feasibly) horror effects: a monster, torn limbs, blood pumps, exploding ooze, etc. etc.

Has anyone read these books? Do you recommend them?

Other recommendations? It must be very realistic. My budget for gore effects is about $1000-$1500 and I have a couple months to build things.

give us a few examples of some of the effects your wanting to pull off. that will help me help you.

Ah, yes. I should have mentioned that.

The effects are:

Mummy skin:

A mummy explodes in green goo.

Arms and legs get ripped off, someone gets a rod stuck in his stomach. Someone bits off an ear.

I think that's it.

i dont know about any books. but....

i'd use a foam latex prosthetic ear, and shoot it right so when it gets ripped off u dont see the real ear underneath.

rod in stomach, i would show person stabbing rod toward victim,then cut to close up of the rod going into the stomach. for the close up: take the shirt the victim is wearing and put it on something like a pillow, dummy, anything,"its gonna b extreme close up so it wont matter" put bag filled with fake blood in the pillow or watever u use, so the bag will puncture and bleed out. then cut back to the victim standing there with rod in his stomach, for this: cut rod into 2 peices. then and attach it to the person, 1 in front, 1 in back.

arms and legs: go to brickintheyard.com, by some of there materials and watch there how to videos, they got some on making fake arms and legs outa there silicone. its pretty easy.

mummy skin: i would use liquid latex, u can get a gallon for 50 buks at maximum impact. then do some make up work or painting to get it the color u want.
