It seems wrong at first thought, but is there really a problem using HD footage in a standard def (NTSC) timeline? It looks pretty good in the moniter. I'm using FCP 5.0.4.
Your help is much appreciated.
OK. This is probably an obvious question, but I've never worked in high def. Can I mix it into standard definition? If not, why, 'cause it looks nice in the moniter.
Thanks.
I'm still hoping someone will respond to this question after a couple of days waiting. This forum has been exeptionally useful in the past to clear up many questions. Anyone out there now at this time?
Yes you can use HD in SD format, the only thing that separates SD from HD is the resolution at which the image is captured. I've put many a clip from HD into a SD format, although I think you may have to upgrade FCP
As what was said, you will have no problem at all placing HD footage in an SD timeline, except for the fact that your HD footage will probably look better than the SD footage.
Also if you place HD footage in an SD timeline, then you will be able to scale the footage to it's normal size and pan and zoom, just like doing a photo montage video (ala Ken burns).
So in essence you could use one clip and zoom in on 2 different subjects, making it look like you were using more than one camera.
