here....new one on RIGHT...

First impressions. ..it fits like a, well 'glove', 100% improvement over version 1.0. But it does not now cover the lens like the first one did....;(

Thanks for posting up the pics/review! hmmmm, so a better fit, but no lens protection... That pretty much kills the deal for me. :undecided

How poor is the fit on the original model?

I couldn't wait for the new one to come out, so I bought the original version. I find that I have to stretch the cover a bit for it to look right... nothing too bad. For my purposes, it does pretty well, but there are problems with it that have been discussed in other threads. The most frustrating thing for me is that I have to unzip the thing to access the upper controls on the body of the camera. I'm using the Century Optics Wide Angle adapter (.55x I believe), and it is well protected. (My camera is exposed to 145(+) mph winds from below on occasion... I have to modify the camera glove to entirely cover the base plate.)

Hope this helps!

The old one also covered the battery slot so that you had to remove it just to change the battery....did they improve tat on the new one?

Yes, you dont have to remove the entire thing to put on a battery....

I put together more pix here. The design is better than first though these pix show that sand would get into lens mechanism without some type of other fix....It now also covers the P2 card cover better (with added Velcro).

Photo gallery here...

Cheers...

I just bought the new one. It seems that there still are a couple of problems with the glove.

1. hard to access FOCUS ASSIST
2. even harder to access ND filters
3. a bit tricky to handle the zoom ring
4. not necessary to remove the glove but still a pain to change the battery

did anyone else find these problems?

I haven't had the chance to take pictures yet but I've discovered another problem... the firewire port is hard to access. In fact it is almost impossible to connect it without tilting/pressing it to one side rather than letting it sit straight.

Weird. I'd like to see pics of that..
