video event FX not working all of a sudden

I must have hit some button inadvertantly, my video fx doesn't work now.

Is there some thing in preferences? Suggestions?

David, I could have spent the rest of my life on earth trying to figure that out. I never would have guessed a function called "Split screen" would disable video fx. What's the purpose of that feature anyway? Why would someone want to disable that?

Vol 6 #1 of my newsletters has an article on that feature.
 
You have it set to "select all." What you do with it is disable effects in a particular area -- you can choose where -- all, left, right, or choose your own area by clicking on the window and dragging a rectangle. It's good for judging effects against the raw footage.
