Sorry guys I did a search but still at my witts end. I have a Canon XHA1 and I shot in 1080i/60i For the life of me I can not get FCP 5.1.4 to read any HDV at all. It works fine with all other SD formats and even the downconvert but I get nothing when trying to digitize HDV. Any help will keep me sane thanks

Try searching the Apple FCP forum and Ken Stone's. Seems like I've seen some other people asking the same thing. I don't have the same camera so I can't help any.

sorry to be the one to tell you this but canon cameras have firewire needs that most computers dont support. My GL2 and XL2 both have the same problem. The way to make it work is to switch your external hard drive if you have one to usb when capturing. Cannon insists they fixed the problem but I dont think they did. It could be something else but I would try that first if I were you.

I have captured HDV from an XHA1 lots of times with no problems. We were using a G5, but, consistent with what lairhair said, it was the only firewire device plugged in at the time... had loads of USB stuff plugged in with no problems...

Go to file >> audio/video settings and just check that the capture settings are setup correctly... I have had problems capturing in the past when the computer was set into DVCPROHD 1080i50 instead of HDV. It would recognise individual frames and display them but wouldn't capture video...

OOO So DVCPROHD 1080i/60i is not what its soposed to be set on there is actually a HDV setting ?? I thought I looked everywhere but I will look again thanks
