Sennheiser g2 100 series A or B in NYC?

Hello all,
I'm planning on getting a Sennheiser G2 100 series wireless system. You can get them in frequencies:
A: 518 - 554MHz
B: 626 - 662MHz
C: 740 - 772MHz

I'm wondering which would be best for New York City. Has anyone used it in NY? I checked the charts at http://www.sennheiserusa.com/newsite/mat_dev/frequencyfinder/Freqfinder-ew.asp
but found them a little confusing. Looks like I don't want C, but what about b/w A and B?
Also, is there a quality difference b/w the Sennheiser ME2 and ME4 mics?

Thanks,
Livy500

On the contrary, c is probably your best bet according to the chart. New York, you may have some interference for the obvious reasons on all 3 blocks so you will have to change the channels now and then.

You most likely want to get the me2 because it has a more appropriate patter (omni directional) for most lav uses. The pattern on the me4 is cardioid.

You absolutely do not want either the ME2 or the ME4 - they are terrible mics. At the minimum, look at the Countryman EMW - it is a much better mic for the price.

Thanks for the help, Phil. My plan was to get one of the systems from the Sennheiser G2 100 series and then a little later, when I can afford it, get the Sanken Cos-11 (sp?) or the Countryman B6. But in the meantime, I guess I'll go with the ME2 b/c it's omni-directional, as per Bosindy's advice. Sound like a good plan?

For anyone interested...
I just talked to B&H and they said that "B tends to be the most open" for New York City.

You definitely don't want band "C"; in fact, Sennheiser has mostly discontinued this band and is pretty much only special-ordering it. The problem is that everything above about 692 MHz (or maybe it's 698, I can never remember) is going away next February with the switch over to DTV, and at this point we really have no idea what's going to be broadcasting on those frequencies or when they're going to start. Makes me so glad we bought about 25 Shure wireless in that range a few years back... :)

I have used A and B in NYC with success. I own the B and I'm happy with it. Just last week I was at 34th St (notorious for problems) and was able to quickly find a good freq on the B block.

Another good and reliable source for info in NYC is Gotham Sound. They've been very helpful to me in the past.
