I'm F***ing Matt Damon (Jimmy Kimmel Live)

We've been watching those clips all morning here. Hilarious stuff. The fact that he got Ford and Groban to be in on the joke shows that Kimmel must be well liked in Hollywood.

You know what's funny about the star power behind the Jimmy Kimmel response... that tells you the power of YouTube... yes, YouTube SUCKS on quality, but we're on a new internet bubble. All the fest entries should get their sh*t on YouTube as fast as they can... YouTube, and sites like that, are creating stars... it's the level playing field we always wanted.

If you think that Jimmy got those stars just for his show you're dreaming... it's the 8 MILLION views that the Matt Damon bit got... all those people need to stay hip... and internet videos are really effective in penetrating 100% of current pop culture. (If you want to contradict this then go ahead... I'm ready... there are a lot of stars that gain nothing but presence through internet video... and the entertainment industry is a popularity contest.)

That's some jaw-dropping stuff... I mean just making it happen really is impressive, but 8 million hits in a short amount of time is a pretty good sales pitch to those stars.

This is why I have a love/hate relationship with the Tube.

Funny/strange stuff does well...

Whereas Silent City (Directed by an Academy Award Nominee) just got over 100,000 views. Posted over a year ago as well.
He has now signed on to a major motion picture deal and may work with the likes of Leonardo Dicaprio.

I don't think YouTube was the reason why. :)

Hey I'm not saying you can do anything and make it on YouTube... or that the stuff that DOES succeed on YouTube is any good.

I'm saying that YouTube has successfully permeated every capillary of pop culture... and it's FREE distribution for your art... AND that it's POSSIBLE that if you rock YouTube that you will get something out of it perhaps of the level only a great agent could normally accomplish.

And as long as we're talking about Matt Damon... has anybody else ever thought that Briceman looks like Matt Damon's half-brother?

:-) Nobody?

I guess it was just the creating stars comment.

I agree that it's a great way to get your work out there. It's just funny to see what the most popular stuff is. Usually garbage...
Or star studded stuff.
