Bogen 503HDV vs. Libec H38 Fluid Heads

Nice pics........................... that head looks like it would handle a whole lot of weight. Does it pan smoothly with that lighter cam?

BTW: If you use the 'insert image' button your links will appear as embedded pics as in:

congrats again

Thanks John,

I know I could have imbedded the pix, it's just that they are so large I felt the links would be more efficient. Oh yeah, the head pans nicely and stops on a dime. The only thing is the vertical tilt and I just lock it off where I need it to stop. I'm sure it'll be less of an issue when I add some more stuff. I love it!

I didn't take pix of the bag, but it fits (TC-70) well, feet and all.

H38 is rated for 17/18lbs. Is that enough for 35mm Adapter rigs with all that gear on 'em?

I'm interested in the H38.

The tipping point is the monitor. My rig with a monitor and batteries is close to 21lbs. All of this stuff adds up. Especially if you have FF and matte box and filters and a decent sized hunk of glass on the front like a 105, 135 or 180mm lens.

If you are going to get a fully loaded 35mm package, would definitely want the LS-55 over the LS-38.

I saw the LS-55 as well. I wonder, however, if you could realign the monitor situation.

Say, get a Clamp and attach the noga arm to it, then attach the unit to the tripod legs at the top?

The LS-55 head is a decent few hundred bucks more expensive than the LS-38.
