Does anyone make a Contax to Nikon adapter? And what contax to EOS adapter?

I just added a set of Zeiss Contax primes to my ZF set in order to have something for the EOS adapters I might encounter but I figure if I can find an adapter to use them on a Nikon mount (which is more common among most of my sets), I think it would be easier than buying an EOS mount for a Brevis, M2, and SgPro.

Also, what contax to EOS adapter would you recommend?
thanks

I've never seen a Contax->Nikon adapter. Some mounts just can't be adapted without using a correction lens or losing infinity focus etc.

For Contax->EOS I just use cheap ones, without AF-confirm which I don't need anyway.

because of the distance to the film on a Nikon camera there are almost no adapters, where Canon has lots of room and a lot of adapters

Thanks for the info guys.

So what Contax to EOS adapter would you recommend? Are there permanent ones that stay attached to the individual lenses or is there one that can stay attached in the EOS mount? I am willing to pay for something that has better quality and less play in the mounting.

I'd suggest you get some without AF-confirm, cheap and less likely to break.
Plenty available on E-bay, starting at $10 - at that price you can get one for each lens. Some of the E-bay shops (Roxsen) also sell EOS rear lens caps and other useful items.

Are those cheap ones good quality though? I'd hate to have play in the mount or for the lens to not be secure due to poor materials. I am all for purchasing one per lens. I figured they are all pretty much the same design and that you can either leave on the lens or remove each time. So Roxsen is a good seller?

I though there was a chance that the contax adapter that SGPro sells was a different design meant for staying in the EOS mount but I am guessing its the same as all the others online. Correct?

The cheap ones are certainly good enough for me. Durable if treated properly, no play, infinite focus available.

The Contax adapter SGpro sells is exactly the same as some of the $10-15 ones on E-Bay. It has a lock pin that locks it on the lens, not the lensmount, to ensure there is no play when turning the focus ring.

Roxsen is a pretty good dealer with solid feed-back - but hey, e-bay + hong-kong - it's bound to get "interesting" once in a while.

I ordered from a company in texas. Should be here in a couple days, Ill update once theyre in along with some shots of these contax with a M2. The SGpro is being ordered as we speak so I can have shots of that in a few weeks too.

Total cost shipped (2 day express) was $100 for 4 adapters (one for each lens).

But there's play in it.

arno

again, i don't know if i lucked out or not, but my E0S Letus Adapter does not come with any play. Maybe however, it is because I did get the AF Chip on my Contax to E0S lens adapter. I find it useful because I also have a 10.1 MP Canon E0S Rebel XTi sitting @ home I can adapt my lens to and will beep when my image is in focus... and yes... the image is amazing on the digital still with the zeiss lenses.

The play they are referring to in that thread is from their EOS mount on the Letus not from the C/Y-EOS adapter that I purchased. I believe Letus has since fixed the issue (possibly bad batch). My various EOS adapters have been good (M2, Brevis) and I have an SG EOS coming in soon.

yeah i know they are talking about the adapter from the letus to the lens, im saying "maybe" it is because of the lens adapter that is being used that may prevent the play a little bit... then again maybe not. letus stated they were using 3rd party adapters and will start milling their own within a month's time.

Let's hope it will be solved. And let's hope Letus makes a Contax-mount. It depents on how many ContaxtaXUSER. We can make a special thread: LetUs: We want a ContaxMount...

to be honest arno, being that zeiss is making the zf series for nikon mount... the honest answer is... most people would go nikon than contax. i like my contax lenses because i can use it on my e0s digital still, otherwise, i might've been using the ZFs already.

Willis, the Contax Zeisses are much cheaper and the same quality as the ZF series.
Important: They have a much wider range of optics.

hope i don't forget one:
