Filters for my matte box

What are some of the best filter package that are available for matte box? Where can I check out filters such as for making the subject's face look smooth/soft/blemishes/wrinkles etc.? I'm also looking for filters that when shooting at something that is bright or has a sun light, it creats these glitter or stars like shines. Help is appreciated.

tiffen's website used to have visual examples of what all their filters did. I'd start there. Pro-mist white and black are popular for making people pretty.

The star like thing is usually done with a starburst filter. I have a Tiffen SoftFX3 and its quite good at making people look pretty.

Thanks for all the suggestion. It would be nice if the site have pictures of a before/after shot with/without the filter.

Okay, just looked at Tiffen's site and there are basically no pictures of before/after shot at all. And yes, it's quite pricey. So here's what I'm wondering.

What's the advantages of correcting the color of the footage during shooting versus in post with good color correction software? I mean by the time I'm done with buying all the filters I want, it'll cost me a couple thousand dollars which I could use to buy a good coloring software.

I'm just weighing my options here. Any suggestion is welcome.

For HD in-camera, Black Frost, Black Pro-Mist and Classic Soft sets are common and produce good results.

Erick,

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm pretty sure I'll need a lot of suggestion since I have never used any filters.

We rarely use anything more than a 1/2 in any of those. 1/8 and 1/4 value versions are pretty common. Don't muss that HD image too much!

Any place where I can purchase this filters cheaply. I mean besides the manufacture's site where the premium price is like $200 and above.
