HVX used on Diary of the Dead

Just saw this at a pre-screening.

Didn't do anything for me. It seemed stuck between trying to be a zombie comedy and a real zombie movie.
Don't remember the last time I was so bored at a movie, and if it wasn't the fact that it is V-day, I probably would have
walked out.

Sorry to hear it was a bore. I believe Romero exhausted all the possibilities of using zombies to make a social statement. I wasn't expecting a masterpiece just letting everyone know that the HVX is leading the way for Independent filmmaking.

I think Shaun of the Dead was the last use of zombies in an original and creative way.

Yeah, but come on -- yet another HVX film on the big screen. I think it's pretty cool that we're seeing budgets of $15m to $25m using our little HVX for theatrical releases...

Romero tanked with Land of the Dead.

Loved Shaun, Dawn 04, 28 Days and Weeks Later. Looking forward to World War Z.

haha wow dodnt think i'd get bashed like that :) I think its great that the HVX is being used etc. and i like most of Romeros films but Land of the Dead was one of the worst movies i've seen and agree with Sprocketboy that Shaun was as of now one of the most creative portrayals of the undead.

matt s., no bashing at all, sure 'most' zombie movies suck, but they are fun as hell to watch.

When it comes to the most creative I would say Fido takes the cake, even though the idea to have them as pets/workers/slaves is nothing new. Also Poultrygeist is another zombie-ish film that adds some new elements to it.

I am a fan of 'old school' zombies, so the upcoming film World War Z will hopefully be as good as the novel. Which I recommend to all zombie lovers. If the film is as good as the novel, it will set a new standard for zombie films.

.

Dont get me wrong most of my collection is 60s-70s exploitation films so i love a "bad" movie.

I guess i dont fully get the whole zombie phenom!

That is usually the case.

Its like my love for Uwe Boll and his work, nobody seems to get it.
