1080p footage in 720p project

hello,
I've just started my journey with VV after using Premiere for a while. unfortunately there's too much hassle to work with mxf files from ex1, so i'm giving VV a try.

but got my first problem already. i've started 720p project, and after importing 1080p footage it's squeezed to fit the project. the thing is - that i dont want it to happend. is there any way to leave it with the oryginal size?

and one more thing - is there any way to use Pan/Crop tool on 2 or more clips at the same time. i've got 2 clips and want smooth pan that starts at the beginning of 1st and finishes at the end of 2nd. i was trying group them but it didn't help at all.

cheers,

1080p will work in 720p projects just fine - I finish most of my stuff (even shot at 10801/24p in 720p projects) - click on the pan / crop icon on the clip and select "match file aspect" - this won't match it to the project, but will retain the aspect of the 1080p file.

As for pan / crop settings (identical) on two clips - you can set the pan / crop settings on one clip and then right click on the pan/crop icon for that clip and select copy - then right click on the clip you want to copy the attributes to and select, paste event attributes - it will copy the exact pan / crop settings (and fx if you have those added)

thanks for response, but well... it's not exactly what i meant. i thought it might not be clear enough.
i know you can mix different resolution footage, but the thing is that if you have 720p project and you put 1080 clip into it vv squeeze it to fit into 720 frame size. 'match source aspect' wont change it as aspect ratio is the same. it's just the size is different. i simply want to put bigger-1920x1080 clip and choose which '1280x720 part' of it to be shown in preview/output.

about the pan/crop thing. i dont know how to explain that... its just that it not suppose to be identical - it's more like continuation. there are 2 clips (static wide shots of the same thing) and pan starts from left to right - but with the 1st clip it reaches only middle (somewhere close to middle, not exact) of the frame and there's this 2nd clip of the same thing and pan continues from that point until right end of the frame. if that could be treated as one clip there wont be any problems, but otherwise adjusting pan's speed to be the same is pain in the... .

i hope that will be a little bit clearer :)

All you have to do is zoom in with the pan/crop tool. The pixels aren't resized. If you make your frame size 1280x720 in pan/crop (you can enter the values manually), you'll be seeing the 1080 pixels 1 for 1, just like you would be in Premiere.

thanks David, i figured out this one. i just thought that maybe there's simpler solution to that - like "keep the original size" button or something like that :)

well, it works anyway, and that's most important.
