Just go this baby and I must say its the sweetest lens!!! Incredibly sharp. With EX1 and this lens at f1.2 I can shoot pretty much with any light source :) I'm sooooo happy!!!

85 1:1.2 L is an incredbile lens.

Looking forward to seeing some grabs and/or footage :)

How do you change aperture?

Max

What do you mean?

But one thing I can say is that I can keep the 85mm at f5.6 or even f8 and I dont see gg grain at all. Putting my EX1 to f16 and 85mm to 1.2 the edge to edge sharpness is really sweet. I did order the EX1 kit from Letus though. I want it to be sharp when shooting dark places too.

I just got back from a shoot where I used that same 85mm f1.2 FD lens and I just can`t stand the sharpness - fully open it outperforms every single photography prime lens out there (except the EF version maybe). It`s sharpness shows even on camera`s built in LCD when used along other at least $1000 class lenses.

Cheers,
T

Oh, I'm sorry, I overread the "FD", nevermind :)
I thought it to be the EF version with no manual aperture control...

Anyways, still very interested in some frame grabs!

im gonna do a little shoot over the weekend so ill post some crabs.

Toenis: you might be right about matching the sharpness with my other lenses. But thats a worry I wont mind :)

Ok, heres some screen crabs with Canon FD 85mm f1.2L, 20mm f2.8 and 50mm f1.4

I shot 1080 30p for the first time. To me the images look tiny bit softer than I expected. Especially the wide images. Am I dreaming though? Are these sharp??? The edge to edge sharpness is really good cause EX1 iris was close to 16 all the time. Is this too much? Could that be what makes them a bit soft that the lens is at full aperture and camera at f8 to f16? To me it looks like less sharp then the images I got when shooting 720p. Is this in any way possible? or maybe the infinity focus is a bit off? Cause the close ups are really sharp.

I was quite surprised by that 14mm, very nice landscapes.
Did you need to zoom in much?

Not much actually somehere between academy fand vista vision frame size. At first I didn`t know how to set up the FD mount and got really bad results then I fiddled a bit with back focus (didn`t correct it actually) and there it was. Today I figured out that I had accidentally touched the auto focus button and my HV20 wasn`t even perfectly focused on the GG.
The zoom through ability on flipping adaptors really gives an edge for critical focusing: Zoom in and focus, zoom back and record, just like ENG.

I played around with the footage and noticed in most of it this kinda smudge.

I think its the ground glass? I'm not sure if I had the lenses stepped full open but if I didnt it would explain the smudge. If it was batteries running out it would be on all the shots right?

i used the canon ef 1.2L with the LEX, watch out, it does not even have a manual focus control!!

Hi Xax, if you read my posts again you see im using the FD lens, not EF. If you just intended to warn EF users thanks for the note though.

Would really appreaciate opinions on the screen crabs, anyone?

Damn!!! I tested and I can see this smudge on everything now! No matter if the LEX is on or off. Of course its worse if its off but it doesnt disappear as it used to. New batteries tested. What is going on!!

u can't close your iris on camer more than 5.6 stay around 4-5.6 no more... this has been discussed, if you close more than 5.6, u can see ground glass structure...

On the camera? Dont you mean on the prime lens? I know this very well. I usually go with 1.2 to 4.8 on the lens and whatever is needed on the camera.

Sami

exactly , on the camera... on lens i think you go as far as you want, but not on the camera... if it's too bright, use camer'as ND filter, but dont close camera iris more than 5.6
