What do you guys think:
Should I get the Dell 30" 3007WFP-HC or the 23" Apple Cinema Display?
It's going to be my only monitor.
The 30" Apple ist just too much money.

Or do you have any other suggestions for around a 1000 Bucks?

If you're only going with 1 monitor, I'd go with the larger real estate and get the Dell. The ACD's are nice, but they aren't worth the bang for the buck imo. The 23" is nice and all, but I wasn't wowed by it by any means (especially considering the sticker tag).

Cheers.

2 22"s. That's what I'd be looking into for a cost effective solution... but I haven't researched the different models from different brands enough to make any recommendations.

I'd suggest 2 22's as well or 2 24's.

You can get two of these Dell 24" for less than the cost of the one 30". I definatly prefer two separate screen for my self. I like more horizontal real estate rather than vertical. More mouse traveling on the 30.

I've done dual monitoring I personally don't like it.

My vote is for the 30" Dell. At one time Apple and Dell used the same panels for their LCDs. They might still be the same.

How many colors does that Samsung show?
Most TFT are way under 8 bit what makes them unusable for color correction.

.....on the other hand, who needs 36 bit color correction when everybody uses flat panel TFTs to watch your work ;-)

Uh I don't know.
Somebody in this forum suggested this monitor to me.
But can you get 36 bit color correction for $500?
Should I've gotten the apple after all?
Now I feel bad.

Don't feel bad. Apple does NOT set the bar for LCDs. The set the bar over pricing them. :D

If my comprehension of data is correct you won't be able to find an affordable 32bit LCD. It would be better to get a dedicated external, color correct monitor anyway.
