Mac or PC?
Are you looking for WMV, FLV and/or SWF, M2V and/or VOB?
Do you need a batch program?
I have found WME from Microsoft, which is free, is awesome for WMV.
Flash and MPEG-2 not so easy. It all depends on your actual file needs. As in FLV and/or SWF, M2V and/or VOB.
If you got the budget Anystream and FlipFactory (made by the folks at Flip4Mac and Episode) are completely amazing! Then again most mortals would rather buy 2 HVX's instead of a World Class media encoding software package that is only slightly better then Apple Compressor.
I use Compressor almost exclusively and for the money you are looking to spend if you have Final Cut Studio already you could buy a Apple Mini instead and cluster.

Indeed.
I'm a cheap-o too.
Flip4Mac is a fine .wmv converter (get the full version). And as for flash... get this:
Convert it to h.264 and then just change the extension to .flv
Good luck,

Capt that sounds too good to be true. Is that only for any H.264 codec based movie file? So like even Quicktime movies made from FCP/Compressor w/ the H.264 codec?
Cheers.
