Is it common for 35adapters (letus) to have a lot of noise in dark areas?

Show stills or video examples. Might just be more noise you're seein' than you're used to, could be GG grain.

That's grain pattern alright. What's your shutter and Taking Lens (Nikon lens or whatever) F-stop at in that?

Batteries new or old? And are you focused on the GG properly? Looks like it but just double check. Use auto focus to find it in a bright area.

When I focused it initially I did just that bright area and auto focus. Yep and the GG is on not new batteries but I can hear the motor of gg still. On my dvx the focus is at 83. Mabye I will have to focus on the GG again tomorrow just to make sure and replace battery.

thanks for the replies guys.

I had this same question myself. I did some tests on my own rig and also found noise in the dark areas.

I found out that my detail settings was +7.

I dont know whats the equivalent for this in HVX menu, but try lowering it or at least swith it to "normal" setting. I lowered mine to +1 and the noise in dark areas were controlled.

The increase in detail settings also aggravated the GG grain.

Hope this might help.

Ted
